9/11 Memorial Park

On Sunday James and I drove to Gila Bend to meet Sherrie from Charlotte. She flew her Dad to Scottsdale and this little town was a half way point for us both. We met here and had a wonderful visit and a picnic. This park was awarded this steel beam that came from The World Trade Center. So at one time this artifact was part of the New York Skyline. The town was responsible for getting the artifact to Gila Bend, so a local drove a semi and picked it up. This small piece weighed over 4000 lbs. Hard to believe. The park has a really nice plague beside it that tells the story.

And so it was a great day to see a familiar face from NC. Short visit but better then none!!! Also was a really nice drive from Yuma. We passed a dairy barn bigger than I had ever seen. S & J

  2. It was so good to see you two! And quite interesting to see some of the local points of interest in the desert. Back in Clt now, it’s cold and rainy today and I am missing the Arizona sunshine and your smiling face.

  3. So glad you two North Carolinians were able to meet up in Gila Bend. Thinking of You.
