Top secret Nevada Air Force Base……As we were coming from Death Valley we drove into Pahrump a back way through Beatty. Long desert roads for endless miles. We stopped at this gas station to fill up and they had green aliens (figures) all over the place. You can google to read what you will but basically it is a common name of classified USAF facilities located within A Nevada test and training range. Something near the salt flats etc, etc, etc.
I finished my first week of work camp on Friday. Had kitchen duty and boy was it fun!! Learned tons and I suppose things will go quite well in the dining hall. Right now they serve food from 730 am to 1 pm M-F. Breakfast food and your typical lunch menu items. Good fun and you get the opportunity to meet most people that are staying here. I am amazed at the number of people that would rather come in there and be waited on then a home cooked meal in your kitchen. I do not know if they go in everyday or couple times a week, does not matter to me. Kind of brought back memories to me from when I was in College and worked in the cafeteria at Lees McRae. What a hoot!! When they have Saturday night dinner socials I will work those as well
Anyway all in all my work/camp swap is going to be great. I would say they have about 40 people that are doing the same as us. James starts tonight as the night host. He will ride in a golf cart around and around and at some point between the end of his shift he has to cover the pools and put the vacuums in the water. Has to lock several buildings, anyone that comes in before dark he helps them park etc. I feel sure he will enjoy the journey!!
