Your history lesson for the day!! What an amazing park this is. We drove over yesterday for the day and I have not seen so much snow in one place ever. Crater Lake became a Lake 7,700 years ago It was mountain that became a lake after a massive eruption and it left a deep basin. Centuries of rain and snow filled the basin, forming the deep blue lake. It is the deepest lake in the United States, at it’s deepest point it is 1,943 feet. It is 6.02 miles across at its maximum and minimum is 4.54 miles across. Holds 4.9 trillion gallons of water and the tallest point on the rim above the lake is 1,978 feet. It is an amazing sight. You couldn’t walk around the rim because of all the snow but you could get close enough to get some pictures. If ever you get a chance to visit Crater Lake, it is worth it. I would suggest mid summer though to have the full affect. The north entrance is still closed so we had to drive around a bit to get to the south entrance. Hugs S&J
