A field of the teddy bear cactus plants. Really pretty when you see as many at one time as we did in this area. It was a fun day in the desert, picnic, traveled with Peg and John Harter from the other Illinois!!!!! (an inside joke)
Have a great day !!! S & J
Aren’t y’all the cutest????
Hey James and Susan! Yea, be sure NOT to touch these cacti. Chollas are also known as jumping cactus and one of the reasons why cowboys wear chaps. They jump onto your clothes, jackets, pants (thus the chaps) and even your shoes. Once when I was a kid I had gone to a friends picnic in an arroyo (dry creek bed). All the kids were playing and running around. Well some of those jumping cacti got a hold of my canvas tennis shoes. The needles went through into the sides of my feet. I could not walk so I had to yell for help. Mr Applebe came running, swept me up and carried me back to the picnic table where they pulled them out. I had another run in with those jumping cactus, but I’ll save that story for another time. Love to you both. Em
You look gorgeous my friend! Yes, watch out for jumping chollas!

Much love and thank you for education and sharing all your adventures!
