Joshua Tree NP

We took a day trip over to Joshua Tree National Park on Sunday. A beautiful drive and a really nice park. This is what a Joshua Tree looks like. In the 1930’s Minerva Hoyt persuaded President Franklin Roosevelt to proclaim Joshua Tree National Monument. In 1994 as part of the California Desert Protection Act, Congress renamed the area Joshua Tree National Park. This park protects over 790k acres, more than 80% of it managed as wilderness-where the Mojave and Colorado deserts converge.

You can see so much amazing nature and the plant life is incredible. Tons of these trees are all over the park but they did have one area that was very populated by them. When you are in the western half of the park (Mojave Desert) you know because of the Joshua Trees.

  1. Growing up in the west, I should have visited but never got there. I think they are cool looking.
