These peaks you see are called tufa’s. This is Mono Lake and our camp spot was just across the street from the Mono Lake Basin. The height of these salt forms is how high the water was at one time. My friend Sue Reaves from home told me about this place when she knew we were going to Yosemite. So we just happened to have a camp spot across the street. So cool. Day after Yosemite we went here and then drove to Mammoth Lakes, and June Lake. Both were hit like crazy this season with snow. Thank you Sue for giving us a heads up about this spectacular lake. If I didn’t have aa huge cut on my leg I might of gone in, Says the salt is for all healing and anybody can float!! Maybe next time. S/J
