On Friday James and I left Alabama and drove to Panama City Beach. We are here until Monday and we take off again… So on Saturday we took a drive to Port St. Joe, about 50 miles from where we are. It is the forgotten coast of Florida. We took our kids to this beach (cape san blast) we think about 23 years ago. We went with some friends from Florida and Ohio and we stayed a week at the end of the island. Taught the kids how to crab with a string and chicken neck or leg and we did it just in front of our place on the beach. (Gulf of Mexico) Anyway we came upon this raw bar while there and it was amazing. Old and grungy inside but the best shrimp and oysters on the coast. It was and still is a self serve beverage cooler, on tap beers and you check off what you want to eat and hand it to the cook. It is STILL amazing. We split baked oysters and steamed shrimp. The original owner has passed but one of his sons was behind the bar continually shucking oysters. We drove over here just have the food and to see the place. The island has grown and to us the houses all looked new. Now I know some hurricanes have destroyed a lot over here but still so sad to see the power of Mother Nature. It was a great day, and if any of you reading are ever in tis area you gotta go. Indian Pass Raw Bar!!! Back in the day they had a pile of oyster shells in the parking lot as high as the building. No more and he said somebody comes every week and picks them up. Way fun to go to and definitely worth the field trip for a day.
All you that are Mothers, I wish you a fabulous day and hopefully you can make this day ALL about YOU!!! Hugs to all…S & J
