This was an awesome time. We drove north to the soo locks. You can see the canal here (lock). When the barges come up the gates open, they cruise in, the water rises so they can get out the other end. It was quite something to see, had not seen this before. They had a few tour boats that you could take out and they give you the spill etc. I just wanted to see how this operated and so on. They have 4 canals and then you have the Canadian side but the people said they don’t operate those anymore. When the one barge we saw come through you could only see about 6 feet of the vessel then when the water rose and lifts the vessel you could see the remainder of the ship. I was really impressed, it’s the little things such as this that intrigue me. This body of water backs into Ontario. So close.!! S/J
