The Frank Slide

This was a massive rockslide that buried part of the mining town of Frank, Alberta on April 29,1903. Around 110 million tons of limestone rock slid down Turtle Mountain and buried a sleeping town. Approximately 600 people lived here in 1903. Most of the 110 who lived in the path of the slide did not survive. Hauling a camper through here we didn’t stop but we are close enough to it for when we drop the camper at the campground we will drive back. I read in a magazine here that they now have rock climbing competitions at the site. Google Frank Slide and you can get a ton of information about it.

Have a great day!!! S/J
