Did you know that South Dakota was the number one producer of sunflower seeds in the United States. This is a small one that we passed on our Badlands walk but driving on hwy. 90 west we drove past miles and miles of sunflower fields. If only they had been in bloom, what a sight that would be!! I expect they will be blooming in about 5 weeks. Despite the size of this, the fields are huge.
